So my friends and I decided to take a day trip to the village of Wando, in the very very south of South Korea. Another TaLK scholar is living there (he's originally from Toronto) and has generously opened up his home to visitors wanting to visit him/the beach.
The weather was absolutely perfect and it was a great day to travel.

The bus is the main and cheapest way of doing inter-city travel in this province.
You can go from Gwangju -> Seoul (280km, 3:30 hours) for around $16.00 |

| Irene and I are excited to hit the beach! |
 |
| Yu and Miyuki are excited too! |

This is the beach near Wando! The water was warm and clear, much different
from the Pacific Northwest. |
 |
Depending on the time of day, you can see the ferry
heading to Jeju island. |

This is a map of the beach we were at. Usually it's packed with summer
tourists, but since it's September already, it was basically deserted. |
After a great day at the beach, we headed back to Gwangju for some rest.
If you want to see some videos I took from the bus, head on down to these links. It's footage of the Korean countryside and coastline in case you're curious or interested.
